“Some of North Carolina’s most dramatic mountain scenery is found at Chimney Rock State Park, with the signature 315-foot spire overlooking Hickory Nut Gorge and Lake Lure.”
Chimney Rock was definitely a tourist spot and normally it’s not what we prefer to chase but we heard it was a quick hike, so we decided to hit this place before heading to the next destination. It was hard to enjoy the peak of the mountain since there were a lot of people trying to head towards a great view spot. What I’ve heard was right that the “hike” was pretty easy since we did take the elevator up to the peak.
After taking in the views, we continued to hike towards the waterfall which was about a mile up the mountain. The hike was interesting especially for a family from Florida. We aren’t used to hiking up, so took our little ones some time to rest and catch their breath. We ended up wrapping/carrying our daughter upwards. Normally where there’s waterfalls or mountains there are stairs! So please that in mind!
It was totally worth it. The waterfall were enchanting. Esther couldn’t help but be over joyed with the sound and beauty it held. God made the earth to complete it‘s purpose to flow with the circle of life and waterfalls are probably up to the top of “beauty and purposeful.”
If you get a chance to stop by it’s worth seeing. Just be mindful of others!
